Osteopathic treatments
Once we have finished talking to you about your problem we will then examine you.
Having informed you of our diagnosis we would then begin our treatment.
There are some key forms of Osteopathic treatment available:
Soft tissue work/ massage
Basically involves stretches muscles to reduce tension and aid drainage. A great way to relax the tissues before applying any other techniques.
Articulation
Often used to move the various joints of the body, ie shoulder, hip etc through a range of motion. In doing so this reduces the stiffness in the joint and at the same time stretches the muscles, ligaments and other surrounding tissue.
Manipulation
A technique often employed by Osteopaths to improve the mobility of a particular joint such as the joints of the back or the neck. These joints can often become very restricted in their mobility and consequently the muscles either side become tight and painful. Improving the mobility of the joint can help relax the muscles, which often reduces the pain being felt.
Cranial
A very gentle technique which works on the body's intrinsic internal movement. Hands are placed on key areas of the head, back and pelvis to help improve movement.
Visceral
There are many intricate mechanicals connections between the organs of the body and the bones and muscles of our back and neck. If these connections become stretched, stiff or tight they can contribute to causing pain in the back and neck areas. Consequently using visceral technique you can reduce these tensions and help in reducing the pain being felt.
